Enjoy your Summer Run

Summertime is here! It is the best time to enjoy outdoor activities and running routine.
Get the most out of your summer running and make it  more fun, safe and enjoyable.
We have some simple tips for you. Check these out!
WEAR THE RIGHT ATTIRE
Running with the right clothes is very essential. Avoid cotton apparel. Choose the moisture wicking, light-coloured, loose fitting, breathable attire that will helps you cool down and won’t build up sweat. Wear sunglasses and brimmed cap to protect your eyes and face from direct sunlight. Remember to keep yourself comfortable and feel cooler.

PROTECT YOUR SKIN
Before stepping outside, it is very important to keep your skin protected from the sun specially when you go running for hours that will expose your entire body under the harmful UVA or UVB rays. Do not forget to apply water proof sunscreen or sunblock before leaving home or running outside. It is safe to say, to always bring sunscreen with you if you need to reapply when needed.

KEEP EXTRA HYDRATED
Our body’s internal temperature rises and builds up more sweat when the temperature is higher and this means you need more fluid intake to avoid dehydration. Pay extra attention on your water intake and drink enough water before running, during and after. Bring a bottled water if you can, to stay hydrated while on the run. Or do not hesitate to stop over to buy water to drink while on the middle of the run.

PLAN YOUR RUN
Choose the best time to run when sunlight is not very harsh. Run early or late in the afternoon to avoid high temperature that will hinder your running performance and health.

FIND SHADED TRAIL
Running around the city concrete roads, asphalts and skyscrapers has a higher temperature. Look for a new running trail with a cooler conditions ,find some shades, trees or near bodies of water like river, lakes and coastline .You don’t only find cooler places to run but also a nicer view with nature.
TAKE IT EASY
Slow down and take it easy on hot humid days. Running against high humidity and temperature is really challenging.Listen to your body, walk for a while when you are too exhausted, drink water when you are thirsty, find some shades to cool off. Pay attention to how you feel because running as the temperature rises can be hard to the heart because it increases heart rate as it pumps harder to circulate bloods and regulates body temperature.
